Over eight weeks each spring, Singing with Nightingales host over thirty events that guide you on an unforgettable journey into nature, culminating in a performance in complete darkness with a wild Nightingale.

On the eve of May 1st, celebrate summer's arrival as folks have done for centuries: spend the night with the land and 'see in the May'. Bring your bivvy bag and sleep under the stars beside the blackthorn bushes as Nightingales serenade you, then awake to welcome the Mayday dawn with traditional songs and rituals.

Our evening begins, however, gathered at the fireside, where welcome drinks await. Before dusk approaches, we'll be led on a wander through this pristine woodland pasture, behold the evening chorus and discover the rich biodiversity of our ancient bluebell woods. Returning to the warmth of the campfire, a two-course vegan dinner awaits, accompanied by a delicious selection of hot and cold drinks to suit all tastes.

As night falls, we'll share in traditional folklore, Nightingale histories, and May songs before embarking on a silent walk through the darkness to find our feathered singers. Here, under a blanket of stars, you'll witness our signature human-avian musical collaboration – a breathtaking interaction between Sam, our guest musician, and our bird, creating a truly unforgettable experience.

After midnight, those sleeping out will be accompanied to a special spot beside the Nightingale thicket to fall asleep under the starlit sky before the dawn celebration. Others can retreat to their tents, boutique bell tent accommodation, or head home for the night. Whichever you choose, you're warmly encouraged to rejoin us at dawn for this very special May morning celebration.

Please make sure you have versed yourself in the important practical information below and reviewed our comprehensive FAQs to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for you and your guests. As our events involve walking across challenging terrain at night, we kindly ask you to consider any mobility requirements within your group before booking. For a full insight into the concept and idea behind the project, please see our What is SWN page.
